Welcome
Making your home more accessible, safe, and comfortable to live in, is a decision many of us face on a daily basis.
Due to a rising need for safe and accessible homes, Accessify WA focuses specifically on solving those challenges for you.
We are a family-run business that has been in the home modification and maintenance business in Perth for many years. Much of that time has been spent working within the age care and disability sectors.
We also have personal experience with the challenges involved in finding the right trades and products required to create a safer and more accessible environment for a loved one. We even recently experienced this with our own father .read more here..
Working with occupational therapists and coordinating many trades and suppliers in a project can be frustrating and time-consuming.
Our goal is to help others avoid these frustrations, and to achieve a result that will allow them or their loved ones to move around their home in safety and comfort.
You will find us very easy to talk to and our personal, and professional experience can provide you with a one stop shop for your home accessibility needs.

Adrian's Personal Experience
My father, in his mid-eighties, had a rapid decrease in mobility when he injured his back last year.
He went from being completely mobile and active to suddenly being in chronic pain and unable to get around without a wheeled walking frame.
He lives on the top floor of a 2-story house. Like most people, he is very attached to his home and community and moving out would have been the absolute last resort. We quickly realised that access modifications were required for him to continue living at home safely.
We dealt with most the minor trip hazards around the house with the installation of ramps. This enabled him to stay supported with his walking frame over small steps and door thresholds, etc.
Showering and toileting are usually the most dangerous daily tasks and where modifications are most required.
We installed a number of rails to assist his transit in and out of the shower and on and off the toilet. It is important to set up a system that enables 3 points of contact at all times throughout the process.
We also purchased some off the rack mobility aids such as a shower and shaving chair to make these actions safer and more comfortable.
The next move was to remove the shower hob. As is common in many older showers, the hob can be a significant trip hazard. This was a large job as the bathroom was not well configured for ease of mobility. The layout needed to be rearranged to allow for sufficient fall for water to run back to a drain once the hob was removed.
Fortunately for us dad a few medical procedures that enabled him to gain back some mobility. However, the next stage was to be the installation of a lift or stair lift, which we have been able to put on hold for the time being.
Government assistance is available in the form of subsidies for carers, occupational therapists, and funding for home modifications. However, the process generally takes a very long time.
What we took away from our experience is that situations can change quickly. You need to plan in advance as to potential future accessibility needs to enable yourself or your loved one to remain in the home for as long as possible.
